Essentially High Dalby House is our home, and this is reflected in
our approach to hospitality. A warm welcome will greet you on arrival
and we trust that you will feel completely at home and totally relaxed
in our home from home.
Because this is our home we are on hand to swiftly respond to any questions or deal with any issues that may arise
Breakfast is served in the Dining Room from 8.30 to 9.30 and
is shared en-famille
Set yourself up for the day with one of our delicious breakfasts. We offer a wide choice of top quality locally sourced produce to suit all tastes. Our breakfast cold table is laden with an array of fruits, breads, pastries, fruit compote, cereals, and fruit juices. We then offer a traditional cooked Yorkshire breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, or eggs cooked to your liking. You may prefer individually prepared porridge and tea coffee and toast are in ample supply.
If you have a special dietary requirement just let us know in advance so that we can cater for you. If you need an early start or just prefer to take breakfast in your room we can arrange for a continental style breakfast to be served.
We do not generally do lunch / dinner as there are many excellent
places to eat within easy driving distance.
There is a cafe in the Dalby Visitor Centre, another in Low Dalby and a third at the Activity Centre. The nearest pub/restaurant is the Fox & Rabbit (01751 460213) serving excellent food and only a three-quarter mile steep walk through the forest. Another option is the Horseshoe (01751 460240) at Levisham - 3 miles away. Only 3.8 miles away in Thornton le Dale the Brandysnap Bistro (01751 474732) offers fine dining whilst The Buck Hotel (01751 474212) and The New Inn (01751 474226) are both pub/restaurants. Thornton Dale Fisheries serve excellent fish and chips for those preferring to dine al fresco. There are several great tearooms in Thornton le Dale and there are numerous restaurants and tearooms in Pickering which is 6 miles away.
We are also within 13 miles of Malton, the food capital of Yorkshire, where you can enjoy the widest range of culinary treats, although please note that some require 6-12 months pre-booking.
If take-aways are more your style, crockery and cutlery and the dining room are all on offer.
In special circumstances we can offer ‘supper’ by prior arrangement where a two-course meal is more homely fare and simple sandwich lunches. We do not claim to be master chefs!
We are fully licensed and have an "honesty bar” offering a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Just help yourself, (no forms to fill in!), and enjoy it in the comfort of your own room, lounge or garden terrace and just tell us what you have had when you leave. If you want to order champagne please let us know so that we can serve it well chilled.
